Now, Help Us Finish What We Started.

Last year, a group of artists, philanthropists, and community members came together with a shared purpose: to save the theater at 5 North Water Street — and the 175-year-old historic home next door — from being bulldozed. Working with our friends at Hingham Bank, we struck a deal at the eleventh hour and raised just enough to acquire the campus.

Then we went further. This past winter, we fully renovated the space into the intimate, state-of-the-art theater that is now home to the Nantucket Performing Arts Center ("NPAC") — and this summer, audiences experienced it for the first time. From the start, our ambition has been to build a home for the performing arts that is both great and good.

Great, by bringing exceptional artists to Nantucket for one-of-a-kind, salon-style performances in an intimate setting — the kind of shared experience that's increasingly rare, and one we believe is especially powerful in the one-of-a-kind community we have here.

Good, by being an active partner to the Nantucket community. During the season, we partner with organizations like Fairwinds, A Safe Place, and NISHA to extend our impact across the island. And in the off-season, we open our doors rent-free to island arts, education, and social-service organizations, including Nantucket Stage, Nantucket Dance Theater, the Music Center, and the Boys & Girls Club.

More than 500 generous donors have helped us raise $15.2 million, turning an idea into the place you can experience today. Now we have the opportunity to finish what we started together: $3.8 million remains to complete the campaign.

Our goal is to close that gap this fall — and to open the 2027 season with a celebration unveiling a permanent donor wall recognizing everyone who helped make this gift to Nantucket possible. Right now, new gifts unlock matching pledges, so every gift — at every level — has twice the impact.
